Shi-Hyun (Jung Kyoung-Ho) grew up in an orphanage, before running away from there. He then made a living by working as a drug courier and picked up the nickname "Doctor's Son." He's now the boss of a mid-size gang. His drug supplier is a man known as Scale (Kim Byung-Ok). Shi-Hyun has plans take over his position.
Meanwhile, Hyeong-Min (Lee Jae-Yoon) becomes the section chief of a special investigation unit. Their goal is to take down Scale, who killed an undercover officer. Hyeong-Min's girlfriend Kyung-Mi (Ko Na-Eun) is also a detective. She also grew up in an orphanage with Soo-Min (Nam Gyu Ri). They grew up like real sisters and Soo-Min is now studying to enter the police academy.
While trying to catch Scale, Hyeong-Min learns about a guy called "Doctor's Son." Now, Hyeong-Min and his team go after Shi-Hyun.
Once again these are MY opinions. Dont bash me too much xP
First of all if you like action thriller dramas, this is definitely for you. I honestly do not like action or crime dramas but since i heard so many great reviews on it, i decided to give it a try. I must say I was glued to the drama for days. I pretty much sat there for straight 20 hours and finished it (of course not literally but it felt like it). It was THAT good. Oh it was a bit dark.
Plot:
It was actually not that predictable like a typical Korean Drama. There were many twists and "what the heck just happened" moments, which makes this drama so much better than others. The plot was very well crafted and was creative. Since there are not a lot of Korean dramas (I dont there are any) that depict the illegal drug business. There were some problems with the plot for me though. First of all there were so many moments where I feel like the writer was trying to make it surprising, but it just felt repetitive to me. I mean the same "surprising" moments felt all the same to me. Of course i was most surprised with the ending. I never thought i would cry during this drama, but this ending changed all of that. I don't want to spoil anything but ...yeah just be prepared for an unexpected ending.
Characters:
The characters for this drama could not have been more perfect in my opinion. The actors and actresses were great and fit their role perfectly.
Shi Hyun (acted by Jung Kyung Ho): He played the "Doctors Son" a drug dealer who grew up in orphanage. When you think of male korean drama leads the first thing that probably pops into your mind is; rich jerk. NOPE not for Shi Hyun. He was more like the opposite and had to fight for everything he ever wanted since he grew up in a harsh environment. Even though he is part of the drug business, he is more of a protagonist than an antagonist since he was kind. He would fight for what he thought was right. This character has so many twists throughout the drama, it is just unbelievable. He was really cool though and not to mention HOT. I mean throughout most of his fight scenes I was just total fangirling. Kim's rant starts: WHY THE HECK DID THEY CENSOR OUT HIS TATTOO ON HIS BACK?! Like they worked so hard on it....
Soo-Min (acted by Nam Gyu Ri): She also grew up in an orphanage but decides to become a police officer. Soon she decides to go undercover and take down "Doctor Son's herself" in order to get revenge. There is not much to say about Soo Min.To be honest, in my opinion, she started out as a weak character and stayed that way. There was not much development with her character except the fact that she falls head over heels for Shi Hyun. (Btw that is not spoiling it because that is pretty obvious). There is great chemistry between her and Shi Hyun though.
Hyeong Min (acted by Lee Jae Yoon): Eh. He was a police officer that hated Shi Hyun. Thats pretty much it. I did not really like his character (or maybe he just wasn't that cute...shh). I mean I liked his honest judgement and how he would figth for what he believed was right (even though many times he was wrong....). Yeah.
Other notable characters:
Lee Jin Sook (acted by Kim Yu Mi): One of my favorite characters. She is part of the drug dealing business too but she does her own things. Which i believe made he so cool compared to the other boring females in the drama. She is pretty much Shi Hyun's "aunt" that has a thing for him? I dunno it was confusing, but she is cool. And not to mention beautiful.
Kim Hyun Soo (acted by Yoon Hyun Min): OMG HE WAS SO CUTE. In the drama, Soo is Shi Hyun's best friend and right hand man (kind of). He would always do what Shi Hyun thought was right and was always by his side no matter what, which made me love him <3
SPOILER: I hate you writers...why must you do this to Soo.....THAT ENDING
Overall this drama was great and was a suspenseful one. It was so much different than many other dramas. I would recommend this drama to those who enjoy suspenseful dramas that keep you on your toes. As well as people who love action.
